Every post, like, and comment is permanently recorded. Universities and future employers will search for you - make what they find count.
Sexting & Image Abuse
Sharing intimate images - even consensually - can have devastating consequences. Once sent, you lose control forever. This can also be a criminal offence.
Cyberbullying
High school can be brutal online. Know your rights, keep evidence, and report it - to a trusted adult and to CyberTips.
Online Scams & Jobs
Fake influencer deals, job scams, and "easy money" schemes specifically target teens. If it sounds too good to be true, it is.
Account Security
Use strong unique passwords and turn on two-factor authentication for every account. One compromised account can cascade.
Social Media Smarts
Review your privacy settings. Be selective about what you post, who you follow, and what you share publicly.

Your Online Rights & Responsibilities

You have the right to privacy
No one should share your location, photos, or personal information without your consent - including other students.
You can say no
To sharing images, to being filmed, to being added to group chats. Setting boundaries online is healthy and your right.
Think before you post
The "24-hour" rule: if you're unsure whether to post something, wait a day. If you're still unsure after, don't.
Be an upstander, not a bystander
If you see someone being bullied online, don't engage or share the content. Report it and check on the person.
Lock down your accounts
Set social profiles to private. Review who can see your posts, stories, and tagged photos regularly.
Speak up if something's wrong
Tell a trusted adult, school counsellor, or call CyberTips at 1-441-777-0875. Staying silent protects the bully, not you.

Bermuda Law & Online Behaviour

Some online actions carry serious legal consequences. Ignorance of the law is not a defence.

Sharing Intimate Images
Sharing, saving, or forwarding intimate images of anyone under 18 - even if they sent them willingly - is a serious criminal offence.
Can result in arrest, prosecution and a criminal record.
Online Threats & Harassment
Sending threatening messages, repeated harassment, or malicious communications online are all criminal offences under Bermuda law.
Police can and do investigate online harassment.
Identity Fraud
Impersonating someone online - creating fake accounts in their name or using their photos without permission - is illegal.
Carries potential fines and criminal charges.
