Primary school children have shared explicit pictures of themselves on mobile phones, a technology expert revealed yesterday.

Sloane Wilson, an acting junior analyst at the Government’s Department of ICT Policy and Innovation, said images were distributed by young people “as soon as they have a phone”.

According to multiple sources, a new variant of Petya ransomware, also known as Petwrap, is spreading rapidly due to the same Windows SMBv1 vulnerability that the WannaCry ransomware abused. There are reports of large scale infections in the USA, and Europe.  Reports of systems affected include: harbour terminals, airports, electricity grids, banks, factories, offices, insurance, and military.

On April 26th, Bermuda celebrated the winners of the three competitions aimed to recognise women in ICT (Information and Communications Technologies) on the Island.

The Department of ICT Policy and Innovation ran the competitions to mark the occasion of the International Telecommunication Union’s (ITU) Girls in ICT Day.
