ROAD SHOWS
There has never been a time when information, communication and technology has been is such high demand and has been readily available to the majority of the population. With this increased knowledge, we all need to make a conscious effort to keep the access to information and the outlets of technology safe for our children. Internet predators, bullying and stalking is a threat to our children and their safety, Bermuda is not immune to this threat, thus it is important for us all to be aware of ways to provide the technology to our families but to also keep those who are most vulnerable safe.
In May 2008, legislation was passed that promotes online safety including the development of anti-pornography and internet luring laws. The Ministry of Energy, Telecommunications and eCommerce, in partnership with the Telecommunication Carriers and the Bermuda Police Service, have launched a website to provide information and resources about internet safety to parents, children and the public and our providing awareness through presentations to school, PTAs and youth organizations.
If you are interested in the Cybertips Group presenting to your organization please contact Coral Wells at cwells@gov.bm or Tina Ming at timing@gov.bm, or calling 441-292-4595.
We hope, that this website (www.cybertips.bm) and the presentations will be the catalyst to discussions and provide a reliable source and aide in the protection of our community.
